A bit of a meander through the updates to my system since January.

It’s halfway through 2026 and the beginning of summer, two reasons for me to start feeling like I need to cast critical eyes on my systems and make sure they are working for me. Back in January, I posted an exhaustive list and explanation of all the layers of what I call my Personal Archive. Now here we are in June and I’m ready to give an update on what has made it through and what has been set aside.

In typical fashion for who I am as a person, I was overly ambitious. I love a notebook, and I especially love a notebook’s potential. Back in January, I was riding on several months of end-of-year motivation and flush with new year optimism. I should have known better — I love a bit of resistance and complication, but I had over-complicated things in a way that felt sticky. The weeks passed and the notebooks that didn’t serve me started to fall away, one by one.
